Online Therapy Intensives in Jacksonville and throughout Florida
Therapy intensives condense focused therapeutic work into a single extended session. Rather than revisiting the same material in short weekly visits, you have a two- or three-hour window to settle in, process, and close with care. That extra time can let you reach places a 60-minute hour never quite allows.
I offer online Saturday intensives to adults in Jacksonville and across Florida. We begin with a free consultation and a 90-minute intake, then schedule your intensive and a follow-up session. A 2-hour intensive is $450 and a 3-hour intensive is $700, and both can be paid with HSA or FSA funds.
- Free consultation
- Online in Colorado & Florida
- $200 per session

Intensives around deployments, travel, and shift work

In Jacksonville, many households live by rotations and schedules set by someone else: Navy deployments and training cycles, hospital shifts, port and logistics hours, or travel for work. When life comes in seasons of being home and being gone, weekly therapy can be frustrating to maintain. An intensive can fit into a window when you know you'll be available and able to focus.
We can use that time for EMDR on a memory that keeps resurfacing, for IFS work with a part that's been running the show, or for building regulation skills before a demanding stretch. Afterward, a follow-up session helps you integrate what shifted. If you're a military spouse holding things together while your partner is away, an intensive can also offer something rare: a few hours that are entirely about you.
Therapy for Jacksonville residents, from home
Jacksonville covers more ground than almost any city in the country, and it feels like it. Getting from the Westside to the Beaches, or from Mandarin to Oceanway, can eat up most of an afternoon, especially when the bridges back up. A therapist who looks local on a map may still be forty minutes away. Online therapy removes that distance.
The First Coast is home to Navy families tied to NAS Jacksonville and Mayport, people working in logistics, banking, and healthcare, UNF students, and retirees who chose the river and the ocean. Moves, deployments, and long hours are part of the rhythm here for a lot of people.
I meet with Jacksonville adults over secure video, so you can keep a steady weekly session even when your schedule, or your household, keeps shifting.

How therapy intensives work

Intensives are typically held on Saturdays, at varying times to fit different schedules. Each session runs 2 to 3 hours depending on the work and your needs. New clients also receive a 90-minute intake session beforehand and a follow-up session one to two weeks afterward.
Before your intensive, we'll meet for a consultation to map your goals and the areas you want to address. During the intensive you'll receive my undivided attention, drawing on EMDR, IFS, cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and somatic practices as needed.
- Trauma healing with EMDR
- Inner child work and emotional processing with IFS
- Building and practicing emotional regulation strategies
- Deep self-reflection and reframing of limiting beliefs
- Coping strategies for ongoing stress, anxiety, or grief

More client stories“I was initially hesitant to do any therapy. My previous experiences with therapists were not so fruitful or helpful. Most of the time I could recognize that my reactions to things were illogical or based on fallacies but not why or how I could change them. I thought I'd be doomed to live a painful life and other people just had something I didn't. That every day would be worse than the previous day. But, with Mrs. Romero and EMDR/IFS things changed. I'm not saying it was easy. It was hard; but worth it. The world used to scare me and the people in it. I felt like an animal just reacting to random stimuli and not knowing why. But through therapy I was able to become more relaxed and enjoy life and what it has to offer. I could face my problems head on and actually get to the bottom of them. I'm 1000x happier than when I first started. I couldn't quite believe it myself. The past me would think that was bull; but it's the truth. I still have some things to change but I'm hopeful for the future and I actually have tools to reach that future. I used to be so hard on myself for mistakes or taking responsibility for things that weren't mine to take. EMDR/IFS helped me build compassion and patience with myself. I look forward to most days and I think there's some beauty in that.”
Therapy Intensives in Jacksonville: common questions
Have a question that isn't answered here? I'm happy to talk it through in a free consultation.
If you are an adult physically located in Florida, yes. Sessions are private pay, and I can provide a superbill if you'd like to check your plan's out-of-network benefits. If a PCS move takes you to Colorado, we can continue, since I'm licensed there too. A move to any other state would mean helping you transition to a new therapist.
There's no physical office. I work entirely by telehealth, which means a client in Ponte Vedra and a client in Orange Park have the same easy access. The one requirement is location: you need to be in Florida, or in Colorado, at the time of each session. A beach chair across the state line in Georgia, unfortunately, doesn't count.
A private room or parked car, a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera, and a reliable internet connection. Headphones help keep things confidential. Some people like to have water, a blanket, or something soothing nearby, since trauma work can bring up a lot in the body. I'll walk you through the video platform before our first session so the technology never feels like a barrier.
If you want more than the traditional weekly therapy experience and feel ready for deep emotional work in a condensed timeframe, an intensive may be a great fit. They're especially helpful for recovering from trauma, navigating transitions like divorce, career changes, or grief, breaking through self-limiting beliefs, and strengthening emotional regulation.
No. Some people benefit from more than one, but many clients see significant improvement after a single intensive. The decision to continue is always yours, and we'll talk about your progress and needs afterward.
Intensives are not typically covered by insurance because of their extended format. I can provide a superbill so you can check with your plan about out-of-network reimbursement, and I offer flexible payment plans.
Yes. Many people who are already in therapy book an intensive to make focused progress on a specific issue. It can complement your ongoing work.
We'll discuss your goals in the consultation and decide together whether an intensive is the right starting point. It's important that you feel comfortable, and every intensive is tailored to your experience.
