Therapy Intensives in Tampa and throughout Florida

Not everyone heals best in 60-minute increments. Some people need time to warm up, and just as they reach the heart of things, the hour is over. Therapy intensives give you two or three hours of dedicated time, which can make it easier to stay with difficult material long enough for it to shift, and then close the session feeling grounded.

I offer intensives online to adults across Tampa Bay and Florida, typically on Saturdays. Each one is tailored to your goals and includes a 90-minute intake beforehand and a one-hour follow-up afterward.

A focused reset for busy Bay area lives

The sun setting over the sea in Florida

Between bridge commutes, demanding work in healthcare, finance, and tech, and a regional calendar that's packed with events and family plans, many Tampa Bay adults struggle to keep weekly therapy going. Others have been in therapy for a while and feel ready to go deeper on one specific issue, like a lingering trauma, a relationship pattern, or anxiety that spikes in certain situations.

An intensive offers concentrated time for exactly that. We'll plan carefully during your intake so we know what we're targeting and what resources you'll draw on. On the day itself, you can join from home in Brandon, Clearwater, or South Tampa, with no traffic on either end. The 2-hour option is $450 and the 3-hour option is $700; HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and I can provide a superbill.

Serving Tampa Bay

Therapy for Tampa residents, from home

Anyone who commutes across the Howard Frankland or sits on I-275 at rush hour knows how much of a Tampa Bay day disappears into traffic. Adding a weekly drive to a therapist's office on top of that is often the thing that makes people quit before they start. With online sessions, your therapy hour is just that, an hour.

The Bay area is a mix of longtime Floridians, military families connected to MacDill, USF students and staff, healthcare workers, and people who moved here for a fresh start. Each of those lives carries its own kind of stress. I meet Tampa clients by video from wherever they have privacy, whether that's a home office in Westchase or a quiet bedroom in Riverview.

Storm seasons here have been hard in recent years. Telehealth means that if you have to evacuate within Florida, our work doesn't have to stop.

How therapy intensives work

A Colorado mountain overlook under a wide sky

Intensives are typically held on Saturdays, at varying times to fit different schedules. Each session runs 2 to 3 hours depending on the work and your needs. New clients also receive a 90-minute intake session beforehand and a follow-up session one to two weeks afterward.

Before your intensive, we'll meet for a consultation to map your goals and the areas you want to address. During the intensive you'll receive my undivided attention, drawing on EMDR, IFS, cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and somatic practices as needed.

  • Trauma healing with EMDR
  • Inner child work and emotional processing with IFS
  • Building and practicing emotional regulation strategies
  • Deep self-reflection and reframing of limiting beliefs
  • Coping strategies for ongoing stress, anxiety, or grief

More client stories
“I was initially hesitant to do any therapy. My previous experiences with therapists were not so fruitful or helpful. Most of the time I could recognize that my reactions to things were illogical or based on fallacies but not why or how I could change them. I thought I'd be doomed to live a painful life and other people just had something I didn't. That every day would be worse than the previous day. But, with Mrs. Romero and EMDR/IFS things changed. I'm not saying it was easy. It was hard; but worth it. The world used to scare me and the people in it. I felt like an animal just reacting to random stimuli and not knowing why. But through therapy I was able to become more relaxed and enjoy life and what it has to offer. I could face my problems head on and actually get to the bottom of them. I'm 1000x happier than when I first started. I couldn't quite believe it myself. The past me would think that was bull; but it's the truth. I still have some things to change but I'm hopeful for the future and I actually have tools to reach that future. I used to be so hard on myself for mistakes or taking responsibility for things that weren't mine to take. EMDR/IFS helped me build compassion and patience with myself. I look forward to most days and I think there's some beauty in that.”
FAQ

Therapy Intensives in Tampa: common questions

Have a question that isn't answered here? I'm happy to talk it through in a free consultation.

Often, yes. If you evacuate to somewhere else in Florida, or happen to be in Colorado, we can keep meeting by video once you have a safe, private place and a working connection. If you leave for another state, I'd need to pause our sessions until you are back, because my licenses cover Florida and Colorado only. During a storm, your safety comes first, and we'll reconnect when you're ready.

Absolutely. Because I'm online, I can work with anyone across Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, and the rest of Florida. St. Pete, Clearwater, Dunedin, and Largo are all the same distance from me: one secure video link. What matters is that you are physically in Florida during our session and that you have a private space to talk.

For many adults, it works very well. Being home can help your nervous system settle faster than sitting in an unfamiliar waiting room. EMDR, IFS, and somatic work all translate to video when the setup is thoughtful. If at any point online therapy doesn't feel like the right fit for you, I'll be honest about it and help you find another option.

If you want more than the traditional weekly therapy experience and feel ready for deep emotional work in a condensed timeframe, an intensive may be a great fit. They're especially helpful for recovering from trauma, navigating transitions like divorce, career changes, or grief, breaking through self-limiting beliefs, and strengthening emotional regulation.

No. Some people benefit from more than one, but many clients see significant improvement after a single intensive. The decision to continue is always yours, and we'll talk about your progress and needs afterward.

Intensives are not typically covered by insurance because of their extended format. I can provide a superbill so you can check with your plan about out-of-network reimbursement, and I offer flexible payment plans.

Yes. Many people who are already in therapy book an intensive to make focused progress on a specific issue. It can complement your ongoing work.

We'll discuss your goals in the consultation and decide together whether an intensive is the right starting point. It's important that you feel comfortable, and every intensive is tailored to your experience.
