Online Therapy Intensives in Colorado Springs and throughout the state of Colorado
Therapy intensives offer a different rhythm than weekly sessions: one extended block of two or three hours, carefully prepared and followed up, so you can go deep without being cut off mid-process. They can be especially useful when you have a clear goal and limited time, or when you've started and stopped weekly therapy more times than you can count.
I offer Saturday intensives online to adults in Colorado Springs and throughout Colorado. I'm licensed in Colorado, EMDRIA certified in EMDR, and trained in IFS, and I tailor each intensive to your needs.

Focused healing for lives shaped by orders and relocations

Colorado Springs is home to many military families, veterans, and defense workers whose lives revolve around orders, training cycles, and relocations. If you're part of that community, you may know exactly how hard it is to keep a weekly therapy schedule when the next move or deployment is always on the horizon. Plenty of civilians in the Springs face similar challenges with travel-heavy jobs or long commutes up I-25 to Denver.
An intensive can fit into a window you know you'll have. In a few focused hours, we might process a specific memory with EMDR, work with a protective part using IFS, or strengthen the regulation skills you'll take into a demanding season. If you're a veteran or service member, we'll move carefully and stay grounded throughout. And if you're stationed in Colorado now and transferring to Florida later, our work can continue.
Therapy for Colorado Springs residents, from home
Colorado Springs sits under Pikes Peak at more than six thousand feet, and life here has its own rhythm: sunny mornings, sudden afternoon storms, snow that can arrive in October and vanish by noon. It's a city of hikers, families, and people who came for the mountains and stayed.
It's also a military town. Fort Carson, Peterson and Schriever Space Force Bases, and the Air Force Academy bring service members, veterans, spouses, and civilian contractors who know frequent moves, long separations, and the pressure of mission-focused work. If that's your world, or you love someone in it, online therapy can offer steadiness while other things shift.
I meet with Colorado Springs adults by secure video, so the drive up Powers or across town on I-25 is no longer part of the equation, and a free consultation is a simple first step.

How therapy intensives work

Intensives are typically held on Saturdays, at varying times to fit different schedules. Each session runs 2 to 3 hours depending on the work and your needs. New clients also receive a 90-minute intake session beforehand and a follow-up session one to two weeks afterward.
Before your intensive, we'll meet for a consultation to map your goals and the areas you want to address. During the intensive you'll receive my undivided attention, drawing on EMDR, IFS, cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and somatic practices as needed.
- Trauma healing with EMDR
- Inner child work and emotional processing with IFS
- Building and practicing emotional regulation strategies
- Deep self-reflection and reframing of limiting beliefs
- Coping strategies for ongoing stress, anxiety, or grief

More client stories“I was initially hesitant to do any therapy. My previous experiences with therapists were not so fruitful or helpful. Most of the time I could recognize that my reactions to things were illogical or based on fallacies but not why or how I could change them. I thought I'd be doomed to live a painful life and other people just had something I didn't. That every day would be worse than the previous day. But, with Mrs. Romero and EMDR/IFS things changed. I'm not saying it was easy. It was hard; but worth it. The world used to scare me and the people in it. I felt like an animal just reacting to random stimuli and not knowing why. But through therapy I was able to become more relaxed and enjoy life and what it has to offer. I could face my problems head on and actually get to the bottom of them. I'm 1000x happier than when I first started. I couldn't quite believe it myself. The past me would think that was bull; but it's the truth. I still have some things to change but I'm hopeful for the future and I actually have tools to reach that future. I used to be so hard on myself for mistakes or taking responsibility for things that weren't mine to take. EMDR/IFS helped me build compassion and patience with myself. I look forward to most days and I think there's some beauty in that.”
Therapy Intensives in Colorado Springs: common questions
Have a question that isn't answered here? I'm happy to talk it through in a free consultation.
My practice is fully online, so there's no office to visit. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and meet with clients across the state over secure video. That means someone in Monument, Fountain, or Woodland Park has the same access as someone near downtown. You just need to be physically in Colorado, or Florida, during each session.
It can be. Even a few months of focused work can help you build skills and process some of what you're carrying. If your next assignment is in Colorado or Florida, we can keep going after the move. If it's elsewhere, I'll help you plan a thoughtful handoff. Sessions are private pay, so it's worth weighing that alongside your benefits.
That's one of the quiet perks of telehealth. When I-25 is a mess or the schools call a snow day, our session can still happen from your kitchen table. If your power or internet goes out, we'll reschedule. Weather that would cancel an in-person appointment rarely needs to cancel ours.
If you want more than the traditional weekly therapy experience and feel ready for deep emotional work in a condensed timeframe, an intensive may be a great fit. They're especially helpful for recovering from trauma, navigating transitions like divorce, career changes, or grief, breaking through self-limiting beliefs, and strengthening emotional regulation.
No. Some people benefit from more than one, but many clients see significant improvement after a single intensive. The decision to continue is always yours, and we'll talk about your progress and needs afterward.
Intensives are not typically covered by insurance because of their extended format. I can provide a superbill so you can check with your plan about out-of-network reimbursement, and I offer flexible payment plans.
Yes. Many people who are already in therapy book an intensive to make focused progress on a specific issue. It can complement your ongoing work.
We'll discuss your goals in the consultation and decide together whether an intensive is the right starting point. It's important that you feel comfortable, and every intensive is tailored to your experience.
