Online Therapy Intensives in Denver and throughout the state of Colorado

A therapy intensive gives you extended, uninterrupted time to work through something that's been weighing on you. Instead of checking in, processing for a short window, and closing every week, an intensive lets us spend most of our time in the actual work, with plenty of space to ground and integrate.

I offer online intensives on Saturdays for adults in Denver, the wider metro, and throughout Colorado. Each intensive is preceded by a 90-minute intake and followed by a one-hour session one to two weeks later, so nothing is left hanging.

Depth without another weekday commitment

Snow-dusted Colorado peaks above an evergreen forest

Denver's pace makes it hard to protect time for yourself. Weekdays fill with hybrid schedules, commutes on I-25 or Colfax, and evenings that disappear into errands. Weekends often belong to the mountains, which is part of why people love living here, but it can leave little room for consistent healing work.

A Saturday intensive offers a middle path. You plan one block of time, we prepare together during your intake, and then you have focused hours to do EMDR, IFS, or somatic work on whatever matters most. Some people use an intensive to jump-start therapy, others to go deeper alongside their regular sessions, and others to work through a specific event. Since it's online, you can join from anywhere in the metro and save the drive for the mountains.

Therapy for Denver residents, from home

Denver draws people from everywhere. Many residents moved here for work, for the mountains, or for a fresh start, and found that the life they built still carries patterns from the life they left. Even in a city known for sunshine and weekends in the high country, old anxiety and unfinished grief have a way of coming along for the ride.

Day to day, Denver can be a grind: hybrid work schedules, I-25 and I-70 traffic, the Friday crawl toward the mountains, and housing costs that keep people stretched. Fitting a weekly drive to a therapist into that mix is hard. With online therapy, you can meet with me from a home office in Wash Park, a bedroom in Aurora, or a parked car outside your job in the Tech Center.

I'm licensed in Colorado and work with Denver adults who want trauma-informed care that goes deeper than surface-level coping.

How therapy intensives work

A Colorado mountain overlook under a wide sky

Intensives are typically held on Saturdays, at varying times to fit different schedules. Each session runs 2 to 3 hours depending on the work and your needs. New clients also receive a 90-minute intake session beforehand and a follow-up session one to two weeks afterward.

Before your intensive, we'll meet for a consultation to map your goals and the areas you want to address. During the intensive you'll receive my undivided attention, drawing on EMDR, IFS, cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and somatic practices as needed.

  • Trauma healing with EMDR
  • Inner child work and emotional processing with IFS
  • Building and practicing emotional regulation strategies
  • Deep self-reflection and reframing of limiting beliefs
  • Coping strategies for ongoing stress, anxiety, or grief

More client stories
“I was initially hesitant to do any therapy. My previous experiences with therapists were not so fruitful or helpful. Most of the time I could recognize that my reactions to things were illogical or based on fallacies but not why or how I could change them. I thought I'd be doomed to live a painful life and other people just had something I didn't. That every day would be worse than the previous day. But, with Mrs. Romero and EMDR/IFS things changed. I'm not saying it was easy. It was hard; but worth it. The world used to scare me and the people in it. I felt like an animal just reacting to random stimuli and not knowing why. But through therapy I was able to become more relaxed and enjoy life and what it has to offer. I could face my problems head on and actually get to the bottom of them. I'm 1000x happier than when I first started. I couldn't quite believe it myself. The past me would think that was bull; but it's the truth. I still have some things to change but I'm hopeful for the future and I actually have tools to reach that future. I used to be so hard on myself for mistakes or taking responsibility for things that weren't mine to take. EMDR/IFS helped me build compassion and patience with myself. I look forward to most days and I think there's some beauty in that.”
FAQ

Therapy Intensives in Denver: common questions

Have a question that isn't answered here? I'm happy to talk it through in a free consultation.

Everything I offer is virtual. You won't find me in a Denver office, but you can reach me from anywhere in the metro, from Arvada to Centennial, by secure video. The only geographic rule is that you need to be inside Colorado or Florida when we meet, since those are the states where I'm licensed.

Yes. I moved to Colorado myself in 2024, so I understand how disorienting a big relocation can feel, even when it's one you chose. New routines, distance from family, and the effort of building community from scratch can stir up loneliness or old attachment patterns. Therapy can be a steady place to sort through all of it while you settle in.

Yes. Saturday therapy intensives are available to Denver clients online. They begin with a free consultation and a 90-minute intake, followed by a two- or three-hour intensive and a one-hour follow-up session. Intensives can work well for people whose weekdays are packed or who want to focus deeply on one area of their healing.

If you want more than the traditional weekly therapy experience and feel ready for deep emotional work in a condensed timeframe, an intensive may be a great fit. They're especially helpful for recovering from trauma, navigating transitions like divorce, career changes, or grief, breaking through self-limiting beliefs, and strengthening emotional regulation.

No. Some people benefit from more than one, but many clients see significant improvement after a single intensive. The decision to continue is always yours, and we'll talk about your progress and needs afterward.

Intensives are not typically covered by insurance because of their extended format. I can provide a superbill so you can check with your plan about out-of-network reimbursement, and I offer flexible payment plans.

Yes. Many people who are already in therapy book an intensive to make focused progress on a specific issue. It can complement your ongoing work.

We'll discuss your goals in the consultation and decide together whether an intensive is the right starting point. It's important that you feel comfortable, and every intensive is tailored to your experience.
